More Angles, More Targets, More Fun · Governors Gun Club

If you've shot trap and want more variety, 5-stand is your next move. Five positions, multiple machines, targets going every direction — crossing, incoming, rising, dropping. This course teaches you to read each presentation, pick the right hold point, and break targets you've never seen before.

How 5-Stand Works

How 5-Stand Works · Desc: 5-stand runs differently from trap — there's a target menu posted at each station telling you which machines fire in which order. Before you shoot, you need to know how to read the menu, what the machine numbers mean, and how the station rotation works for the squad.

Crossing Targets

Crossing birds require a sustained forward lead that most new shooters consistently underestimate. You'll drill the correct hold point for hard left and hard right crossers, learn how to commit to the lead, and stop shooting behind.

Rising & Dropping Targets

Incoming rising birds and outgoing droppers both require a different gun-target relationship than crossing shots. This module covers how to read initial target trajectory in the first half-second, where to mount the gun, and when to pull the trigger on each presentation type.

Combination & Report Pairs

Many 5-stand stations present two targets — either simultaneously (true pair) or in sequence (report pair). You'll practice the decision sequence: which target first, how to stay disciplined on the first bird before moving to the second, and how to reset your hold point between shots.
