Cancellation Policy

All course sales are final and no refunds are offered for any cancellations or missed classes. However, if you are unable to attend a course, if you notify GGC at least 48 hours before class start time, your registration can be used for the same course within 30 days with a $20 transfer fee. If a participant neglects to show for their scheduled course, does not inform the instructor, they are subject to no rescheduling period. There will be no entry to courses if participant arrives 15mins AFTER the posted start time. If participants do not reschedule class within 30 days, no refund option is available. He enjoys shooting all types of guns including handguns and rifles. He is a 4 times rifle expert qualification in the USMC and 1 time sharpshooter in pistol qualification. He enjoys teaching handgun and rifle fundamentals to newer and less experienced shooters.

Basic Carbine Course Overview

This is a 6-hour basic course that includes classroom discussion, range time and a meal!

In this class, students will learn firearm safety, the responsibilities of a firearm owner and the fundamentals of shooting. These students will also learn how carbines operate so that they will be educated enough to help them find which carbine is most suitable for their needs. There will also be a basic overview of ammunition, the internal functions of the carbine and ammunition selection. They will also be given an understanding of common malfunctions and taught the skills to help them work through the different malfunctions with their carbine.

Discussion on accessory recommendations for the carbine will be reviewed to ensure the student has the right setup for their defensive needs.

Required Course Materials

  • Carbine platform rifle or pistol (loaners available)
    • Rifle and Pistol caliber carbines are acceptable, up to .223/5.56mm
  • 100 rounds of ammunition
    • NO steel core or AP ammo allowed
  • Minimum of 2 magazines
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Minimum of 5 dummy rounds
  • Wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes & no low-cut shirts
  • Bring note taking material

DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN

Here at Governors Gun Club, we love for our customers to feel comfortable and empowered while using their firearms for target practice or self-defense. This class will be taught by experienced civilian instructors, in the hopes to allow a common view of learning for all the basic knowledge and to get as comfortable as possible with a firearm.

In this class, students will learn the 4 universal rules of firearm safety, the responsibilities of a firearm owner and the fundamentals of shooting. These students will also learn the difference between shotgun action types and how they operate so that they will be educated enough to help them find which firearm is most suitable for their needs. There will also be a basic overview of ammunition and what happens when a firearm is fired. They will also be given an understanding of common malfunctions and taught the skill to help them work through the different malfunctions with their firearm.

Discussion on accessory recommendations for the shotgun will be reviewed to ensure the student has the right setup for their defensive needs. This class is a combination of classroom and range time. Don’t miss out!

 

Required Course Materials

  • Defensive Shotgun (loaners available)
  • 50 rounds of 00 buckshot (lead)**
  • 10 rounds of rifled slug (lead)**
    • LOW RECOIL OPTIONS RECOMMENDED FOR NEW SHOOTERS
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Minimum of 5 dummy rounds (loaners available)
  • Note: All targets are provided as course material
  • Wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes & no low-cut shirts

**Due to limited ammunition availability, ammo counts are flexible. Firing drills will be coupled with dry practice. This will teach students how to successfully practice without ammunition, a valuable training skill.

 

Jeff Cain

Jeff has many years of public service: serving in the US Air Force, Texas State Guard Medical Brigade, Shelby County (TN) Sheriff’s Office and local agencies. He has served as an EMT, Search and Rescue team member, protection & SAR dog trainer, armed security and instructor for multiple disciplines.

Jeff is NRA certified to teach Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection in The Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, and Range Safety Officer. He constantly takes new courses to reinforce existing skills and to add new skills to his repertoire.

Jeff’s teaching philosophy revolves around teaching simple, memorable and repeatable skills that can be recalled and applied during stressful situations. Your safety is his number one priority.

We want you to be prepared so the Marietta Police Department is presenting The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, providing direction and establishing an approach to surviving an active shooter event. Motivated by recent events across the country, the Stop the Bleed initiative was developed by the Hartford Consensus to provide civilian bystanders also known as “immediate responders” with the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation in order to save lives. This partnership has forged an innovative safety approach that combines situational awareness, active shooter response, and life-threatening bleeding management into one training course.
