Pistol Red Dot Clinic

Jan 1 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Who this clinic is for

Shooters who are comfortable with basic handgun safety and operation and want to drastically shorten time to first meaningful sight picture with a pistol red dot. Appropriate for new red‑dot users who already have safe handling experience, or experienced shooters switching from iron sights.

Key learning objectives

  • Establish a repeatable, efficient pistol presentation for rapid dot acquisition.
  • Perfect fundamental skills (stance, grip, sight plane, trigger control) as they apply to red‑dot pistols.
  • Read and interpret red‑dot movement to diagnose common errors (grip pressure, wrist alignment, recoil management).
  • Convert dot behavior into immediate, practical grip/presentation corrections.
  • Maintain target focus while locating the dot and during follow‑up shots.
  • Apply dry‑fire and live‑fire drills that accelerate muscle memory and dot consistency.

Methods & drills

  • Guided dry‑fire repetitions
  • Live‑fire progressions from slow to speed: single shots, controlled pairs, reloads
  • Diagnostic drills to force specific dot errors so students can feel and fix them
  • Partner coaching and instructor corrections for rapid improvement

Safety & prerequisites

  • Familiarity with handgun safe handling, clearing, and basic loading/unloading
  • Eye and ear protection required; bring required magazines, at least 200 rounds
  • All shooters must sign range waiver and follow instructor commands at all times

Equipment & instructor info

  • Bring your red‑dot‑equipped pistol, 2–3 magazines, ammo, and a holster if you have it.
  • Clinic led by certified, experienced pistol instructors with competitive/range teaching background and documented red‑dot experience.

Outcomes / what you’ll walk away with

  • Faster, repeatable dot acquisition on presentation under realistic conditions.
  • The ability to “read” your dot — identify common movement patterns and correct them immediately through grip and presentation changes.
  • A set of dry‑fire and live‑fire drills to continue improving on your own.
  • Personalized feedback and an action plan to reduce time to sight picture and increase first‑shot hits.
