Stop The Bleed Plus (Kennesaw)

STOP THE BLEED PLUS®

Discover the importance of rapid bleeding response through our Stop the Bleed training. Gain essential life-saving skills to be the first to help in emergencies. The course includes national Stop the Bleed material and covers common life-threatening injuries.

A bleeding person can die from blood loss within three to five minutes. Emergency responders will arrive as quickly as possible, but bystanders are almost always there first. Emergency services are often spread thin in the case of disaster and high casualty incidents.

“Stop the Bleed” is a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to act quickly and save lives. No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene.  A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes.

This course will cover the national Stop the Bleed course material and will be supplemented with additional material to cover the most common life-threatening injuries.

Topics include:

  • Actions to ensure personal safety
  • How to identify bleeding as a life threat
  • The use of hands to apply direct pressure
  • Proper use of wound packing
  • Proper use of tourniquets
  • Additional material
    • Trauma Kit basics
    • Chest wounds and care
    • Tension Pneumothorax and care

Self-Defense Techniques: – Targeting vital areas: eyes, ears, nose, throat, and groin. – Strikes: palm heel strikes, hammer fists, elbow strikes (front and back), and knee strikes. – Kicks: stomp, front kick, back kick, and ground-based kicks. – Grab escape techniques: single wrist escapes (circular and high five), double wrist escapes (hitchhike), rear naked strangle, front choke defense, ponytail defense, and bear hug defense. – Rape defense techniques: bridging, trapping, rolling, knee strikes from the chest, and punching from your back. – Escaping from duct tape restraints and zip ties. – Proper techniques for falling safely.
